Alto Vista Chapel

About

A small mustard yellow chapel built in 1750 and rebuilt in 1952, set alone at the end of a winding cactus lined road on the island's quiet northern coast, well off the route most rental cars ever take. Stone markers tracing the Stations of the Cross line the approach, and it remains an active place of pilgrimage rather than a roped off ruin. The silence and the empty coastline around it are the actual draw more than the building itself.
