A near enclosed lagoon at the island's southern tip, shallow and warm enough that toddlers can wade out thirty feet and still stand, which is the whole reason families make the drive down from the west coast hotels. A shallow reef just inside the lagoon mouth is an easy first snorkel for anyone who has never tried it. Palm-thatched huts along the sand give shade, a couple of snack trucks cover lunch, and the wind tends to pick up by mid afternoon.
