Arikok National Park

About

Almost a fifth of the island is set aside here, a rugged stretch of cactus desert, limestone caves and a wave battered north coast that looks nothing like the calm west side beaches. Fontein Cave's indigenous drawings and the Conchi natural pool are the two stops most visitors build a day around, though Conchi needs a 4x4 or a booked tour to reach. Wild cunucu goats and donkeys wander the trails freely, and the park has no lighting anywhere, so plan to be back at a gate well before dark.

• Open daily 8am to 4pm at the san fuego entrance (santa cruz), 8:30am to 3pm at the vader piet entrance (san nicolas). no lighting in the park, be out before sunset..
